Project Memory

Souls meets N64

Set in a dark fantasy world, Project Memory is a Soulslike with an innovative combat system which integrates the principals of anticipation into every encounter. Make decisions based on distinct visual cues and watch how enemies react to your playstyle.

The Combat

Not all defensive options are created equal. Each enemy attack has a counter which is more effective and makes avoiding damage easier. Anticipate the enemies movement and choose carefully how to react. Combine this with the unique advantages associated with these options in order to turn your defense into your offense.

The Animations

Animations in Project Memory allow you to read your opponents attacks and provide you with all the information that you need in order to choose the right answer by giving you distinct visual cues which indicate the incoming attacks.

The Enemies

You are not the only one that is paying attention. Just like you, bosses will also try to anticipate your actions and adapt in order to counter you playstyle. Watch as they start utilizing attacks which counter your preferred defensive option.

3D Pacman

A cult classic reimagined

In this game prototype, you play as Pacman from the First-Person perspective and have to collect all orbs present on the map. Compared to the original, various gameplay elements have been altered to better suit the new perspective to allow for a fun yet thrilling experience. This prototype was made using Unity and assets from the Unity Asset Store.

The Ghosts

In order to make the ghosts more predictable and make the game fair for the player, the ghosts have been sent on specific paths. This way even if the player dies they will slowly be able to remember the pathways of the ghosts and thus can make more tactile decisions on each new attempt.

The Teleporters

Like in the original, teleporters allow the player to quickly move from one side of the map to another or to avoid ghosts.

The New Perspective

With the change to the First-Person perspective, there is a heightened sense of danger that the player feels while playing the game. Compared to the original the player is unaware of the ghost’s position and danger could be around every corner.

The Movement

In this version of Pacman, the player is allowed to move and look around freely. This allows the player to stand still if necessary or keep track of the ghosts while running away.

Brainwave Pokemon

Play against the mind

In this version of Pokemon, the enemy AI has been replaced by brainwave data. Using this data, various parts of the game will be determined such as critical hit chances, the attack pattern of the opponent, and more. This prototype was made using Processing and Java.

The Brainwaves

Using the different values extracted from the brainwaves, the enemy’s attacks and background calculations such as critical hit chances are being controlled. Values that correspond to certain actions, such as high attention, control things like enemy attacks. It is also possible to connect a mindwave headset via a bluetooth connection allowing for real-time control of the enemy. This way players can play against each other or even against themself.

The Pokemon Types

In the current version of the game, there are 3 element types available which are chosen at random at the beginning of the game. Each has effective and ineffective opposing attack types which allows for tactical plays being made using the 3 elemental attacks that each participant has.
